The original game spawned many sequels with of several action-adventure games, it also has a comic book series and a card game. The original Mortal Kombat was the first fighting game to introduce a secret fighter, reached if the player fulfilled a set of requirements. Still, the developers paid homage to him with Johnny Cage (one of the main characters in the many games), a fictional film star whose personal style resembles Van Damme's. The development of the first game was originally based on an idea that Ed Boon and John Tobias had of making a video game starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, but when that idea fell through, a science fantasy-themed fighting game was created instead. Hopefully some ways down the line, you can buy the characters separately from the story (and hopefully at reasonable prices).Mortal Kombat is an American media franchise centered on a series of video games originally developed by Midway Games in 1992.
However, I play this game quite often so I can justify it in that case. I was in this category and had to hold my nose when I purchased the Aftermath add-on. $40 was easier to justify for six characters and multiple premium skins like Hellspawn Jacqui, Darkseid Geras, Klassic Skins, and so forth. You have to actually value the story and the three characters quite heavily if you already own the first Kombat Pack. If you already own the game with the first batch of DLC (pre- Aftermath) If you lightly play the game and really only play it at a casual level, the Aftermath bundles can probably be skipped unless there’s a notable discount on them. On top of that, it has additional cinematic story chapters to further enhance the Mortal Kombat 11 experience with top-notch voice acting, choreographed fights, and interesting character interactions.

Say you bought the game last year at full retail price but didn’t go the extra mile to get the Premium Edition I’d recommend getting the Aftermath + Kombat Pack Bundle only if you have enough interest in playing at least half of the characters that come in these two add-ons. If you already own the base game with no DLC The ridiculous grind to get new character skins, equipment, and finishers have been toned down enough to be tolerable, the towers of time fights were also toned down to have less artificial difficulty, and of course the much needed balance changes to make every character viable or fair were implemented.
A lot of the hindrances that plagued the early days of the game are gone for the most part.

Mortal Kombat 11 at its core is a fantastic game with a solid roster, fun and engaging story, a good variety of offline options to occupy yourself with, a really stable netcode, lots of customization, and more polish and character balance. $40 is a bit of a steep price for an add-on that brings about two to four hours of additional story content and three new fighters. However, I did initially come to a crossroads when buying the Aftermath pack. NetherRealm Studios recently released Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath which is doing a lot to revitalize the game as well as continuing the story after what seemed to have been the end of the road for the timeline.
